Workshop med Vanessa Muela och möte med Mujeres en la Musica


EPOS får besök av två ansedda musiker från Spanien, folkmusikern och multiinstrumentalisten Vanesa Muela och den klassiska gitarristen Pilar Rius. De representerar det spanska nätverket Mujeres en la Musica, som arbetar för en jämställd musikscen i Spanien. Vanesa Muela kommer hålla en workshop i spansk folkmusik för EPOS medlemmar och Pilar kommer berätta om Mujeres en la Musica och deras verksamhet.

Vanesa Muela is a singer and multiinstrumentalist who is directly influenced by the spanish tradition, the roots and purity of the music of yesteryeares. She is able to show the soul of traditional songs she has learned directly from the elderly people. 

Vanesa is one of the most recognised and charismatic voices nowadays in Spain, she got the National Prize of Ethnology “Cultura Viva", granted by CSIC (Center Superior of Scientific Investigations) in the year 2006.

Her career is backed by more than three thousand five hundred concerts in Spain and several countries of Europe, her thirty-four years on the stages and the ten discs that she has in the market.

Pilar Rius is a classical guitar player who specializes in contemporary music, pursuing postgraduate studies in Germany, awarded by the Humboldt Foundation. 

She plays concerts all around Europe and Asia and international level composers have dedicated different pieces to her. Pilar Rius collaborates with prestigious orchestras, ensembles and spanish formations and is currently focused on interdisciplinary stage projects in which the guitar and electronics have a leading role. 

Immersed in her Doctoral thesis, she investigates gender in music, specifically in the field of guitar. 

Pilar Rius is professor at the Conservatory of Alcalá de Henares and at Alfonso X el Sabio University. She has been president of the AMM since 2014.
